Welcome to Renegades Foundation
Since 2019, we’ve been on a mission to challenge stigma and create space for open, honest conversation. A space where no one feels alienated, ashamed, or afraid to speak their truth. It’s time to speak up and keep talking. Until everyone feels safe, seen, and supported.
At Renegades Foundation, we believe in the power of real stories. We amplify the voices of those who have faced setbacks, endured struggles, and risen stronger, because every story of resilience reminds us just how unbreakable we truly are.
When we listen to the people most affected, these issues become real, urgent, and impossible to ignore. That’s why we refuse to stay silent. The more we talk, the easier it becomes and the closer we move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Through Renegades, we’re reminded that none of us are alone.
Founder Lucy shares her lived experiences to offer honesty, insight, and reassurance for young adults navigating life’s challenges. From grief and mental illness, support, and hope, she shines a light on the realities we don’t talk about enough.
Join us as we prove that our struggles do not define us, they strengthen us.
About Renegades Foundation
Who We Are
Renegade:
Someone who challenges convention at the right moment: rejecting outdated norms in favour of better, braver ones.
Since launching in January 2019, our goal has been simple but powerful: to remove stigma and refuse silence for the sake of someone else’s comfort. By sharing how we truly feel, telling the stories of our past, and openly discussing how we’ve navigated pain and healing, we show others that they are not alone.
We regularly update our platform with policy changes, fundraising opportunities, and key moments within the sector, including landmark cases such as University of Bristol v Abrahart, because awareness leads to accountability and change.
Our first campaign, “I Am Not Defined,” amplified the voices of individuals who achieved incredible things despite being told they wouldn’t. We explored topics including mental health, organ donation, sexuality, and Bell’s palsy. This was followed by “Spot Me, Save Me,” a campaign focused on recognising the symptoms of mental illness, warning signs of suicide, and the side effects of medication.
In Autumn 2020, we launched “Students vs Stigma,” highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by university students and calling for greater government attention. Through a series of blog posts, students from diverse backgrounds shared the realities of studying during the pandemic.
More recently, our work has centered on grief; how it isolates us, and the unspoken, often taboo thoughts and emotions that accompany profound loss.
Five years on, Renegades continues to grow, challenge, and speak up.
And we’re only just getting started.

Inspiration
At the age of 22, Lucy, founder of Renegades, found herself navigating grief, a pandemic, university and all those anxieties that come with being a young woman. She turned to books to try and find stories that showed her she was not alone, stories that could show her that life would carry on and how to get through. When she couldn't find enough, she began writing them herself. She found other people with life stories to share and soon, a community began to grow.
